Grieving

Losing a much loved pet is very often as hard as losing a family member. This is because from our pets, we get unconditional love. They never say or do hurtful things, but are there to help ease the pain of hurtful things other humans do and say. Our pets are not only comforters, they are often our closest friends and confidants. We can tell our non language speaking pals things that we would never dream of confessing to another human being. For this reason, the death of a pet often affects us even harder than losing a human loved one, in lots of ways. We are rarely experience the same unconditional love with other humans that are all too often, quick to point out our frailties, faults and short comings.

Grieving and grief for the loss of a beloved pet is acceptable, and quite frankly, expected. You have a hole in your life where once there was a loving companion that you nurtured and cared for. It is normal to miss them, to grieve for them. Grief is probably the most confusing, frustrating and emotional thing that a person can experience. Our goal here is to let you know that as a bereaved pet owner you are NOT alone and that what you are feeling is entirely normal.

These are some wonderful articles written for grieving pet owners. We hope they are helpful to you.
