Rescue Pet of the Month

This is my finch Kiara. She is my oldest bird.
Kiara came into my life 4 years ago. She was bought from a pet store where
she was kept in a cage with to many other finches that was to
small for
them.
The cage was not very clean. I could not leave her there, so home she
came
with me.
When I got her she had many feathers missing on her back. I was not
sure
if
they would grow back. She also despised all other birds. She would
fight
with the ones housed
with her and would try to fight with them if their cage was to close.
All she would do at that time was fight with them. Her feathers did
come
back and
she is a beautiful girl. With time, patience and understanding her
temperment changed.
She was able to be with birds around her in another cage and enjoy
their
company.
She still does not like other finches in the cage with her. I am not
sure
what happened
to her that she is this way but she is housed seperate. She enjoys her
life
now and is happy and
healthy. The other birds that I rescued over the years that have
crossed the
bridge and rescuing kiara
started my journey helping and rescuing other birds that need a home. I still do this today.
Sometimes I think forgoten birds need help too and they need people who
love
and enjoy their company.
I will continue to help birds in memory of my other birds without them
and
Kiara I would
have never started helping them. Today I have 4 rescues including
Kiara
that live with me and will
until they too cross the bridge.
Send us a photo of your rescued pet along with the url to his/her webpage to be one of the monthly featured rescue pets.
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled
and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.
Hmmm... Yes there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my perch hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
